Two braided leather bands run down the front, framing the pocket against soft, pebbled washed leather. Each braid is stitched in along both edges, so it lies flat and keeps its shape. It won't peel, fray or crack. The leather only softens and deepens with every year of use.
Each handle is anchored by a thick leather tab, antique-brass rivets and a solid metal ring. The load spreads across the whole tab instead of resting on a single seam. Fill it up, the handles hold. Over time the brass takes on a warm patina that suits the leather.
